In August of 2024 I had an idea. I would start writing a fantasy novel, releasing a chapter a week on Substack. I wouldn't make an outline, I wouldn't do any worldbuilding, just completely made up each week based on what was written previously. The goal was for 52 chapters, but it has fallen apart after chapter 26. I could still write a completely unsatisfying two or three chapter ending, but it would be so weak I can't find the motivation.
It wasn't unexpected, though. It's a bit surprising it made it that far. Part of the plan had been to share with people, attract readers to comment predictions, advice, critiques, or whatever. I think I sent the link to one friend. No surprise it didn't work out.
Now that I've learned that Substack is refusing to demonitize nazi content, I'm not sure I want to keep using the site. Since I have a website, I might as well move those twenty-six chapters here for those who want to read them.
This project isn't completely dead, though. I'm going to do some worldbuilding and outline the main plot before I start over. That might take until August, so we'll see when I start my rewrite. Instead of putting 60000 words on a single page, I'll put a menu below to take you to each chapter separately.
